Minimal investment through Outsourcing
Bespoke Kitchen Manufacturer, Midlands
When people hear the word outsourcing, they often assume it means moving all production outside the business.
That was never our goal.
We have invested heavily in our workshop, machinery and team, and we still manufacture a large proportion of our products in-house. What we needed wasn’t a replacement for our workshop. We needed flexibility.
Like many manufacturers, our workload isn’t consistent throughout the year. Some months run smoothly, while others bring large projects, tighter deadlines and sudden spikes in demand.
A few years ago, those busy periods often resulted in bottlenecks, overtime and difficult decisions about whether we could confidently take on additional work.
That’s where Probox came in.
Rather than outsourcing everything, we use them as a variable manufacturing partner. Sometimes it’s dovetail drawers. Sometimes it’s doors and frames. On larger shaker kitchen projects, it can be a complete package of components.
The ability to scale production up or down depending on workload has changed how we manage the business.
Instead of investing in more machinery, more floor space and additional staff to cover occasional peaks, we have access to extra capacity exactly when we need it.
The result is shorter lead times during busy periods, improved workflow across the workshop and greater confidence when accepting new projects.
Probox hasn’t changed how we operate. They’ve simply given us another tool to help manage growth.
“Probox gives us flexibility. We can use them when we need additional capacity, without changing how we operate as a business.”
