When recommending the best door locks to your client, there are several things you need to take into consideration, including:
- Security requirements
Whilst traditional locks provide an excellent level of security for home and business premises, multi-point locks significantly raise the security standard by distributing the locking force across multiple points, reducing the likelihood of a break-in.
- Ease of use
Traditional locks are super easy to use, and typically involve a single key to lock and unlock the door – which the majority of your clients will already be familiar with.
However, as we’ve mentioned, standard locking systems may not offer the level of security that every client needs or expects, so a multi-point door locking system may be a more suitable recommendation.
Although initially they may seem a little more complicated to operate – as they often require lifting the handle before turning the key to fully engage the locks – most modern designs feature intuitive, user-friendly systems.
You can also further reassure your customers by demonstrating how the system works and explaining the additional safety benefits.
- Durability
Whereas traditional locking systems tend to wear down over time – especially in high-traffic areas where doors are constantly being opened and closed – multi-point locking systems are a much more durable option.
Multi-point door locks are built with longevity in mind, and with the weight of the door being spread across multiple bolts and latches, the system experiences less wear on individual components.
So, for your clients who prioritise durability above all else, make multi-point locks your top recommendation.
- Installation complexity
Traditional door locks are generally quick and easy to install, thanks to having fewer components and straightforward instructions – making them an excellent option for clients who need a speedy turnaround.
However, multi-point door locks require precise installation for your clients to reap the benefits, so it may take you longer to ensure perfection. For customers wanting to invest in higher security for their property, the lengthier installation process is a more than worthy trade-off.
Many modern multi-lock systems, like the ones we supply at Quest, arrive pre-made and ready to install, saving you precious time on installation and allowing you to impress customers with your efficiency.
- Aesthetic preferences
Traditional door locks are available in a variety of classic and modern designs, allowing your customer to select something that suits their specific door style and aesthetic preferences, without having to sacrifice functionality.
When it comes to multi-point locks, they have, in the past, largely been seen as utilitarian – but they’re now available in a variety of sleek designs that are the perfect fit for premium doors in both contemporary homes and commercial properties.
So, for clients who are looking for a higher security option that’s subtle and classy, multi-point locks are the way to go.
- Budget limitations
Finally, you need to take your clients’ budgets into account if you want to recommend the most suitable type of lock for their home security project.
Whilst traditional door locks are more affordable initially, they wear down much faster than other systems, as we touched on earlier – so they may require more frequent repairs and even replacement down the line, which means in the long term, they tend to be pricier.
Multi-point locks, on the other hand, are more expensive upfront, but they provide much higher long-term value thanks to their durability and longevity, enhanced security and reduced maintenance requirements.
